Submission for the GameDev.tv Game Jam 2024 (Theme: "Last Stand")

Complete Gameplay Video (Youtube)

Plot:

In this short platformer, you control a cute cat in pursuit of true love. But beware, other cats are also vying for your love's attention. You must defeat them all and be the last cat standing (yes, it's the Game Jam theme).

Controls:

CommandKeys/Buttons
MoveArrow Keys, A/D Keys, Left Stick, Directional Pad
JumpSpacebar, Up Arrow, W Key, Right Mouse Button, A (Xbox Layout)
AttackShift, Ctrl, Z, Left Mouse Button, X (Xbox Layout)

Cat Battles:

You can only attack when on the ground. If your attack is successful, the opponent will be thrown in the direction of the attack. When damaged, the opponent loses one heart. If a cat is out of hearts, each subsequent damage also stuns it for a short time. The objective is to push the rival cat out of the arena.

After Jam Results:

Thank you everyone for playing, rating and commenting my game! I hope you all had fun as I had! See you in the next jam!

As for the continuity of this game, I think It was a good prototype for an actual experience, but if I will continue, probably will be another game with similar mechanics and more content. But for now I like to take a good rest before working in another project. If you want, please follow me and get notified when something new arrive.

Cute :) As you asked for critique, I am not that fond of backtracking after a defeat (having to walk multiple screens to get back into battle), but most of the time it wasn't that far. Got to the end

Anyone know what this error is about?

Error
The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing:
Cross-Origin Isolation - Check that the web server configuration sends the correct headers.
SharedArrayBuffer - Check that the web server configuration sends the correct headers.

If publishing on itch.io, you can try to tick the option belowimage.png

But if you have encountered this error in other pages (like this one), it is probably a browser incompatibility or some server error.

I can only agree on the nice aesthetics and atmosphere. The fighting could use a block besides jumping and attacking. Short and sweet.

excellent and charming pixel art! the platforming and changing between screens was very reminiscent of old NES games. I really loved the cat getting startled by the title popping up.

Thank you for playing! Glad that you liked!
